Day 46: Solidify

Fragment: The world can be posessed
Font: Galaxie Polaris
Quoted: Professor Alexander Nemerov

Nemerov was talking about Van Gogh today. My family has a thing for Van Gogh. We have 4 cypress trees in our back yard. This fragment refers to Van Gogh's impasto technique, as if it were an attempt to capture the world physically in the paint.
I've noticed I always feel compelled to use Galaxie Polaris Light for Professor Nemerov. Maybe it's in the fragility of the individual characters, but it's something about the two that just works.

Day 45: Class

Fragment: Chance favors the prepared of mind
Font: Galaxie Polaris
Quoted: Louis Pasteur, found in Barnet's Short Guide to Writing about Art

I suppose the value of education is really about the refining of the mind. I might not know much about a lot of things, but I know that I'm not afraid to learn.

Day 44: Narrative

Fragment: Why is that there?
Font: Helvetica
Quoted: Professor Nemerov

Should it be there?
or... does everything have to have a reason?

In other news.

Day 43: Awkward

Fragment: Embrace the Awkward
Font: Helvetica
Quoted: Aaron X (http://wheresthestagexx.blogspot.com/)

I've found myself saying "The first date is always awkward," pretty frequently.
Also: "It's only awkward if you make it awkward." But I've realized this one doesn't always apply, because somethings are just plain awkward.

Day 42: Tiger

Fragment: "They assume strength, not fragility..."
Font: Helvetica Neue
Quoted: Professor Amy Chua

It looks late, but no: The article came out in January, and I began this project in February. I'm working on a poster for our Asian Pacific Heritage Month Event (Professor Chua is our speaker) Whenever I think back to the article, this sentence stands out to me.

Today's a red day.

Apologies to anyone who's been waiting for my fragments.
